BSS, Cox’s Bazar :
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya yesterday said Rohingyas coming from Myanmar will be registered in a biometric way.
He added that the participation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and its cooperation will be there as special care is being taken so refugees cannot enter the country with drugs or any other illegal things.
The minister said this while exchanging views with journalists after visiting the Nayapara Refugee Camp here.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law Ministry Abdul Matin Khasru, Abdur Rahman, MP, Ashikur Rahman, MP, and Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Mohammad Shah Kamal were present.
The relief minister said the government considers the temporary shelter of Rohingyas from a human perspective although sheltering such a large number of refugees is difficult for Bangladesh.
He hoped that Myanmar would soon take its people back. He said Myanmar’s Rohingyas had also entered Bangladesh before and they were illegally living in different areas of Cox’s Bazar.
Referring to the fresh influx of refugees, he said the misery of these helpless people has created a humanitarian crisis.
He called on the international organizations and community to stand beside them and put pressure on Myanmar to take its people back to their homeland.
