Mosharraf urges business community to boost country’s economy by paying taxes

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, MP, on Tuesday called upon all particularly the business community to pay taxes properly for boosting country’s internal resources and economy.
He said the government has taken various steps to develop National Board of Revenue (NBR) including introduction of a wide range digital taxation
in the country to make easier the tax payment system so that the people feel encouraged in paying all kinds of VAT and taxes properly.
“There is no alternative to internal resource mobilization if we want to lessen dependency on foreign loan and aids in implementing the development scheme,” the Minister said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Income Tax Fair- 2014 at Agrabad Government office this morning.
Commissioner of Tax in Chittagong Dabir Uddin presided over the function while NBR member Ramendra Chandra Boshak, Income tax Commissioners- Apurbo Kanti Das, Mohammad Nazrul Islam and high officials of Taxes and VAT, among others, addressed the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister declared that the Construction work of 20 storied Tax Bhaban for the taxation offices of Chittagong Zone will be started from December next and the construction work will be complete within next two years.
The Public Works minister said the importance of tax payment is immense not only as a revenue collection but also in the fields of economy and social justice.
“There is no alternative to earn adequate revenue collection in executing the government’s roadmap of development”, he added.
The Minister called upon the concerned officials to extend proper services to the people and ensure a hassle free tax realization system so that the people feel encouraged to pay all kinds of VAT and taxes properly.
