Police in a special drive arrested six ‘hijackers’ from Sher Shah Journalist colony under Bayezid thana early on Saturday.
The arrested were identified as M Riton, 18, Mehedi Hasan, 22, Delwer Hossain, 18, M Ripon, 18, M Mamun, 19 and Rasel, 18.
Police also recovered a toy gun and two knives during their drive.
M Mohosin, Officer-in-Charge of Bayezid Police Station, said they all hailed from Sher Shah colony. Four of them worked in different shops and two of them are unemployed. They used to hijack while people went to walk in the hilly area during holiday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Bayezid police conducted a special drive in the area and arrested the six at around 3:00 am.
A case was filed in this connection and sent to court.
