Atiar Biswas, father of Zubaiyer Biswas, president of upazila unit Chhatra League, filed the case with Ishwardi Police Station on Thursday night making Sirhan Sharif Tamal and Jubo League leader Rajib Sarkar the main accused for vandalism.
Police said Land Minister Shamsur Rahman, also an MP from Pabna-4 constituency, and his son-in-law Ishwardi municipality Mayor Abul Kalam Azad had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
Amid the rivalry, 10-15 supporters of the minister, led by local Jubo League leader Rajib Sarkar, swooped on a number of business establishments at Ishwardi upazila headquarters on Thursday and vandalised those, including a shop owned by Azad.
