Terming the refusal of health facilities to provide medical services as an inhuman behaviour, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud congratulated the doctors, nurses and other health service providers who are rendering the health services to patients during the Coronavirus pandemic.
“The hospitalsthat are refusing to provide health services in this situation are doing inhuman behaviour . . . The government is monitoring all of these activities and would take actions against them, he said.
The minister made the comment recently while inaugurating a corona unit at Chattogram Ma-o-Shisu Hospital through a video conferencing from his official residence in city’s Minto road area.
Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed, Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin were virtually present at the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
Congratulating the concerned authority of the hospital for settingup the corona unit, Hasan said the Chattogram Ma-o-Shishu Hospital has set an example of humanity before other hospitals.
“We saw in a newspaper that a man died in front of his wife as he could not be admitted to any hospital though they visited hospitals one after another. This type of incident is really regrettable and unexpected,” he added.
He said it is an inhuman behaviour to refuse a patient to get admitted to any hospital. “And I hope, the hospitals which are doing such behaviour will take lesson from the Chattogram Ma-o-Shishu Hospital,” he added.
Terming the doctors, nurses and other health providers as the front fighters during the prevailing Corona situation, the information minister said it is not appropriate not to come to their working places during the situation.
