Biman’s much-coveted Dreamliner due today

National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to enter a new era as its first Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 is set to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today (Sunday) afternoon.
Touted in as the fifteenth aircraft of Biman’s fleet, the newest entrant is slated to usher in a new generation of aircraft, said a press release issued on Saturday.
Water cannons to be blown to welcome the first Dreamliner of a four-flight fleet on tf the national carrier.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has chosen its name as Akash Beena, it said.
In 2008, Biman Bangladesh Airlines signed a US$2.1 billion agreement with aircraft manufacturer Boeing to purchase 10 new aircraft.
So far, four new Boeing 777-300 and two Boeing 737-800 aircraft were commissioned while the first one of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner to be reaching today, it said.
Shakil Meraj, General Manager (Public Relations) of Biman, said that the prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the first flight of the Dreamliner on September 1, slated to fly to Kuala Lumpur.
The aircraft will initially be used to operate flights from Dhaka to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
