College girl’s slaughtered body found

Police recovered the slaughtered body of a college girl from Mirpur in the city on Thursday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Amena Akhter alias Reshma, 18, daughter of Alamgir Hossain. She was also the student of 2nd year of BCIC College, police said. Mirpur Model Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman said that Reshma and her father were staying at home in the morning. Reshma’s mother found the slaughtered body of her daughter in the afternoon, the police official said.
 The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy, the SI said. Police are investigating the incident, he said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, the SI further said.
Meanwhile, two women reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in city’s Rampura area on Wednesday night. The victims were identified as Israt Huda Bithi, 16, a HSC student and Suravi (22), a housewife, police said.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sentu Chandra Das said that Bithi hanged herself around 10:00pm on Wednesday. The family members rushed her to DMCH where she was declared dead around 11:30pm on the day.
On the other hand, Suravi’s brother-in-law Tuhin said that after returning home Suravi’s husband Shahe Alam Kazi saw the house locked from inside. He knocked several times and did not get any response.
After breaking the door, he found Suravi’s hanging body with ceiling fan, Tuhin added.
She was then rushed to DMCH where on-duty doctors declared her dead on arrival. Rampura Thana sub-inspector (SI) Abdur Rashid said that they guise that Suravi may commit suicide due to familial dispute.
