Journalists of print and electronic media in Barisal on Tuesday called for investigative and unbiased objective reporting following the way of bard journalist Munajat Uddin.
The programme to observe his 20th death anniversary was organised at BRU conference room by Barisal Reporters Unity initiated by Coastal Journalist Forum of Bangladesh in collaboration with Upokul Bangladesh, online journal, dot. silicon, IT firm.
Anisur Rahman Swapan, BRU president , presided over the programme addressed among others by Manabendra Batobayal, Nurul Alam Farid, senior journalists, Kamrul Ahsan, secretary , Bappi Majumdar, former secretary of BRU.
The speakers remember the role and achievements of Munajat as ‘Charon Sangbadik’ in developing journalism outside the city and urban areas said he was one of the best sons of the soil and pioneer of pro- people rural journalism giving a special dimension and importance to investigative news reporting.
Munajat created a rich and successful trend of investigative and follow-up reporting about different social and development issues amid technological shortcomings of his era, the speakers said.
He used to disclose the worries of the suffering humanity and unmasked the criminals, corrupts, extortionists, anti-social elements and organised criminal gangs in society, the participants opined.
