Police arrested two youths for chopping a school boy in Charkawa union under Barishal Sadar Upazila on Saturday.
The incident chopping was happened on Saturday morning following altercation between the local cadres and volunteer of annual sports at Potang School of Sadar upazila over erecting a welcome-gate containing photo of Bangobandhu at bottom of local lawmaker and city mayor. The chopped school boy Mamun was a student of class X of the school and admitted at Barishal Sher -E -Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Father of the victim Ali Hossain lodged a case in this connection and police arrested Mahmudul Hasan, son of Masud Rana of Charkawa and Shanto, son of Sohel Khan, two local hooligans. A sharp weapon also recovered from the arrestees and police trying to arrest other accused of the case lodged in this connection, said Golam Mostafa, officer in charge ( investigation) of Bandar police station under Barishal Metropolitan Police.
Another case in connection of disgracing father of the nation also lodged by Sub Inspector Shamsul Islam as complainant against erector of the reception gate, the police official added.
Mentionable local lawmaker and state minister for water resources Col. (rtd.) Zahid Faruk Shamim was chief guest and BCC Mayor Sadik Abdullah was inaugurator of the annual sports of Potang high school on Saturday.
A gate containing photos of Bangobandhu at the bottom of them was erected on way to the school by local AL leader Masrul Alam Nasir, which created sensation among the AL leaders including the guests.
They asked to remove the gate immediately for disgracing father of the nation placing his photo at bottom of the banner.
