Abahani Limited take on Farashganj Sporting Club Limited in final of the U-18 Football tournament scheduled to be held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium with both the teams optimistic on winning the trophy.
The match kicks off at 4.30 pm. The final will remain open for all school and college students as well as the spectators.
Earlier on way to the final, old Dhaka ‘outfit’ Farashganj Sporting Club moved to the final beating Brothers Union Club by 5-4 goals in penalty shoot out in the first semi-final while Abahani confirmed their final spot beating Arambagh Krira Sangha in a sudden death tiebreaker in the second semis.
The champions of the tournament will get Taka 5,00,000 while the runners-up will get Taka 3,00,000 as prize money. Besides, all the participating teams will have Taka 2,00,000 as participating money.
Prior to the final, a press conference was held on Saturday at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).
BFF senior vice president and professional league committee’s chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy, who was present at the press conference said they have already selected talented booters from this tournament to form age group national team in the future.
BFF members Satyajit Das Rupu, Jakir Hossain Chowdhury, Walton Group operative directors (games and sports) FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, BFF professional league committee’s member Manosh Bose Baburam, Abahani’s skipper Rafiqul Islam Sumon, and Farashganj Sporting Club’s captain Noyon Hossain, were among others, present on the occasion.
