The government has undertaken a Taka 12,773.37 lakh project for training of poor women across the country to involve them in income generating activities.
State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Begum Meher Afroz Chumki disclosed this on Wednesday in the Jatiya Sangsad, while replying to a question from treasury bench member Mohammad Ilias.
She said that the project ‘Income Generating Activities (IGA) Training of Women at Upazila Level’ is now pending with the Planning Commission for approval.
“The present government has also been implementing various programmes for rural poor and helpless women under revenue and development sectors for creating employment facilities along with their welfare,” the state minister added.
Replying to another question from M Shawkat Chowdhury, she said the district and upazila women affairs offices are distributing micro credit among the women under the poverty alleviation programme.
