Sohel murder case, Ashish sent to jail in another case

A Dhaka court today sent Ashish Roy Chowdhury, an accused in actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case, was sent to jail in connection with another case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order after Shamim Hossain, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station and investigation officer of the case, produced him before it with a forwarding report in which the police official appealed to confine him in jail.
The magistrate also set April 10 for hearing on a bail petition submitted by Ashish’s lawyer.
In the forwarding report, the IO said Ashish was trading narcotics from his Gulshan residence. Moreover, he is an accused in the Sohel Chowdhury murder case. So, he needs to be confined in jail until the investigation is the IO added.
Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday (April 5) arrested Ashish from his Gulshan home in Dhaka. They also seized 17 bottles of foreign alcohol from his residence.
Later, a case was filed against him with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
On December 18, 1998, Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead by miscreants at Trumps Club in Abedin Tower, in Dhaka’s Banani area.
