Seven injured in clash between police, BU students

Seven including 3 cops were injured in clash over petty matter between police and Barisal University(BU) students on Wednesday afternoon at Police Line Road adjacent to city campus of BU.
Police firing 6 round gun shots, 11 tear gas cells, charging baton and detaining 4 students controlled the situation, said Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station officer in charge.
Three police personals including Firoz Hosen, Arafat Ahmed and Ranjan were injured by the brick bats of the students.
Among them Arafat received head injury and admitted at Barisal police hospital. BU students also assaulted Selim Ahmed, cameraman of Bangla Vision TV and damaged his camera.
Police detained BU students Abid Hossain of Mathematics, Ashish Dhali and Ismail Sardar of Management and Luthfar Rahman of Law departments, from the spot.
Witnesses said Sajib Hossain, one of the employees of first food shop and restaurant ‘Hot-Plate’ was sacked by owner for alleged stealing mobile phone on Monday. Over this issue Sajib and another employee of the hotel engaged in scuffle at 2:30 Pm of Wednesday.
Then friends of Sajib, including some BU students, also became inclined with the issue and at about 4:00 PM Wednesday they tried to attack the restaurant.
