Speakers in a discussion underscored the need for a collective efforts of all government, entrepreneurs, banks and other financial institutions concerned for effective and successful promotion of Small and Medium Enterprizes (SMEs) for bolstering the country’s economy.
They viewed time has come to strengthening the efforts of generating enlightened entrepreneurs in grassroots through the best uses of area based industrial potentialities. To this end, the SME Foundation will always remain besides the endeavors.
SME Foundation organised the discussion with local small and medium entrepreneurs at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner here on Wednesday afternoon.
Main theme of the discussion was to promote local SME sector, enhance production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce for national growth alongside reduction of social disparity through generation of more employment.
KM Habib Ullah, Chairman of SME Foundation, addressed the session as chief guest with, Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi, in the chair.
Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali, Director of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sekendar Ali, local unit president of women business forum Prof Rojety Naznin and local unit president of women entrepreneurs association of Bangladesh Anjuman Ara Begum also spoke.
The Chief Guest said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted various need-based measures for taking forward the SME sector.
The country has started raising its head in the global arena with the pragmatic steps. He told the audience that loans worth around of Taka 2,62,340 crore were disbursed among 18.35 lakh SMEs during the last four years.
He said SME is the key driver of the economy, so the entrepreneurs should seize all the facilities and opportunities to promote the sector in the greater interests of the nation.
SME Chief asked the field level bankers to give more impetus to development of SME financing to accelerate the economy at the grassroots.
Narrating enormous significance of more development of entrepreneurships and increased financing to the SME sector, he also asked them to boost credit-flow to the sector.
