Political leaders firm to work for peace

Local leaders of major political parties have reached in a consensus that they will work for establishing dignity, security, social diversity, peace and communal harmony everywhere in the society collectively.
To this end, the leaders like Upazila unit general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Ahsan Habib, Upazila unit general secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Abdus Sattar Nannu and Upazila unit president of Jatiya Party Sekendar Ali signed a code of conduct agreement unanimously.
Peace Pressure Group (PPG) organized the contract signing programme at Dakbanglow auditorium in Mohadevpur upazila yesterday. Citizens for Good Governance (CGG), the Hunger Project Bangladesh (THPB) and People Against Violence in Elections (PAVE) project jointly supported the event where more than 100 people from civil and police administrations and other stakes attended.
CGG Secretary Dr Badiul Alam Mazumder attended and addressed the programme as the chief guest with PPG Ambassador Nurul Haque Master in the chair.
Officer-in-Charge of Mohadevpur Police Station Saber Alam, UP Chairman Mahbubur Rahman, Awami League leader Moyen Uddin, BNP Leader Afan Uddin, public representative Shahnaj Begum and the contract signing political leaders spoke on the occasion also spoke.
The discussants unequivocally opined restoring social harmony has become imperative for the sake of institutionalization of democracy coupled with establishing good governance everywhere in the society.
Responsive and positive role by all quarters is very important for maintaining peace and social harmony towards taking forward the country collectively.
For the sake of building the nation as peaceful motherland, all conscious, patriotic and peace-loving people should come forward and work together.
They said the nation would get rid of conflicts and confusion if the people of the society as well as the state machineries took a positive approach to establish peace and amity from their own position.
If necessary, they would also take steps to build a national unity to free the nation from the clutches of conflicts, feud and violence.
