President M Abdul Hamid on Saturday asked all concerned to ensure quality work as he witnessed the progress of different ongoing development projects, including the Itna-Mithamain-Astagram road, here.
“Ensure quality work of development projects . . . The concerned institution or person must become liable, if any negligence is found in the work,” he cautioned, terming the under-construction the Itna-Mithamain- Astagram road is a visible development initiative of the incumbent government.
The President directed the authorities concerned to complete the under-construction roads by March next year, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told reporters.
This road will connect three upazilas of Kishoreganj, easing road communication with Dhaka and other parts of the country.
Abdul Hamid expected that this road link would benefit the haor people and open a new door of economy.
A source familiar with the project told BSS that about 78.10 percent construction work has been completed till yesterday. The under-construction Austagram-Nawga road will connect Chatalpar of Barhmanbaria district through a bridge while Austagram-Kastul- Bhantshala road will connect Itna and Mithamain upazilas.
During the visit, Abdul Hamid waved to the people who were chanting slogans standing on roadsides to have a glimpse of their beloved President.
Besides, the President was informed about the proposed Mithamain Cantonment.
The head of the state, who was earlier elected Member of Parliament (MP) several times from this haor area, arrived here on Wednesday last on a weeklong visit.
