Police arrested 22 people in connection with launching attack, vandalizing and looting at least 75 Hindu houses in Sunamganj’s Noagaon village over a Facebook post criticising a Hefajat leader’s statement.
The arrest was made after drives were conducted at different places of Shalla upazila in between on Thursday and Friday, reported our correspondent.
He said police are preparing to produce the arrestees before a Sylhet court as police has been confirmed about their
involvement with the mayhem following primary interrogation.
Yesterday afternoon, a victim villager filed a case with Shalla police station accusing 700 unknown people in connection with the violence.
Police also filed a case in this connection. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
