Pilferage of imported cloths worth Tk 1 cr from port shed alleged

After disappearance of container from port’s security , another incident of pilferage of imported clothes worth Tk.1 cr happened on Monday.
The incident of pilferage occurred on Monday evening from JR Yard of the Chittagong Port. In this connection a pilferage case has been lodged with the Bandar Thana in city on Tuesday evening. Manager of the Importer Onars Group , Md. Masudur Rahman filed this case as plaintiff.
Officer in-charge of Port thana admitted the fact of filing the case to this correspondent yesterday afternoon.
 Meanwhile Port authority formed a Probe Committee with 2-members headed by Traffic Manager Khudrat e Huda , sources said.
Port Director (Transport) Golam Sarwar told that these imported clothes imported from China and pilfered from the JR yard of the port. The pilferages incident was detected on Monday at about 8 pm while the importer representatives and the customs officials went to the shed for physical inventory of the container but after reaching the spot for physical inventory, the officials found that the container is open and 90 percent clothes were taken away from the container.
The clothes worth about Taka one crore was imported from China by a RMG factory (Onars Group) owned by former BGMEA President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin for his factory ‘s use, sources said.
