UNB, Dhaka :
Food and fresh water supply to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office for her party leaders, office staff and security personnel remained disrupted for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday due to reported obstruction by law enforcers.
Plainclothes police deployed in front of the office blocked a CNG-run auto-rickshaw as it arrived there with 40 packets of cooked food and some bottled water around 12:15pm.
The law enforcers asked the auto-rickshaw puller to immediately leave the area with the food and water, reportedly saying that there is no permission to supply the food to the office.
The law enforcers on Wednesday night suddenly stopped the supply of food and fresh water to Khaleda’s Gulshan office by turning away a van carrying cooked food and bottled water.
BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar said as nearly 40 people inside the office were going hungry for lack of food, they brought the cooked food form a city restaurant, but police turned back the auto-rickshaw carrying the food.
He said they have been taking dry food since Wednesday night. Sought comment about the reason for blocking food supply to the Khaleda’s office, the law enforcers declined to make any comment about it.
The law forcers, however, are not resisting the relatives of Khaleda from supplying cooked food for her.
Khaleda Zia has been staying in the office along with nearly 50 people, including some BNP leaders, office staff and her personal security personnel since January 3.
Meanwhile, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed in a statement alleged that the government is trying to kill Khaleda by stopping food supply for her to her office.
