The Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee Examinations-2017 began on Sunday at 7200 centres.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman visited the Ideal Government Primary School, Motijheel Government Primary School, Shantinagar Co-operative Government Primary School and
Rajarbagh Police Lines Government Primary School’s centres.
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Asif-uz-Jaman, Additional Secretary Dr A F M Monzur Quadir, Director General of Directorate of Primary Education Dr Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal and Deputy Director (Dhaka Division) Indu Bhushan Deb accompanied Minister.
The Minister told the journalists that the first day examination was peaceful.
He also thanked the teachers and the guardians for their excellent co-operation in holding the examination.
A total of 30, 96,075 students are appearing in the examinations this year.
As many as 28, 04, 509 examinees will sit for PSC examinations while 2,91,566 students will appear in Ebtedayee examinations.
Of the total PSC examinees, 12,99,985 are males and 15,04,524 females while of the Ebtedayee examinees 1,53,152 are males and 1,38,414 females.
The total number of this year’s examinees are 1,34,213 less than the previous year’s 32,30,288 candidates.
A total of 3,332 differently-abled students will appear in the examinations this year while they will get additional 20 minutes for completing their exams.
The examinations are scheduled to end on November 29.
