Mahila Ganoforum
A meeting organised by Mahila Ganoforum was held at the central office of Ganoforum in the city’s Arambagh on Wednesday. In the meeting the speakers called upon all women activists of the organisation to be united against extremists’ attacks and communalism. The programme was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Ganoforum Mostofa Mohsin Montu, Women Secretary of Ganoforum Central Committee Farida Yasmin, its Agricultural Secretary Nripen Ghosh and Youth and Sports Secretary of the organisation Rawshan Yajdani. Convenor of Mahila Ganoforum Gulzar Begum presided over the function.
Muktijoddha Samannaya Parishad
A human chain against militancy, terrorism and communalism was formed jointly by the Muktijoddha Samannaya Parishad and the International Committee on War Crimes Mass Trial in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city on Wednesday. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said anti-militancy views exchange campaign would be launched from July 19 across the country. He said there is no existence of the Islamic State (IS) or Taliban in Bangladesh. Referring Jamaat-Shibir and their activities, he said Jamaat-Shibir killing people with sharp weapons, so, we will have to strengthen our fight against Jamaat-Shibir. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Vice- President of Muktijoddha Sangsad Ismat Kadir Gama, Member Secretary of the International Committee on War Crimes Mass Trial Osman Ali, General Secretary of Bidyut Sramik League Alauddin Miah and Film Director Rokeya Prachi. The minister said Begum Khaleda Zia will have to take the responsibility of killing innocent people.
