Non-formal education prog on the cards for dropout children

The government is going to launch this year a non-formal education programme for nine lakh children who had either dropped out, or never to school went The Bureau of non-formal Education (BNFE) will set up more than 32,000 learning centers across in the country.
In Kishoreganj, this year at least 18,900 Children dropped out. Administration Kishoreganj arranged an advocacy workshop.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam attended as the chief guest, with ADC (Education & ICT) Md. Habibur Rahman in the chair.
 It was addressed among others by POPI NGO Executive Director (ED) Morshed Alam Sarker as special guest, Non-Formal Education Programme Assistant Director Abdul Malaque, Professor Dr. Abdul Hye of Dhaka University, Senior Information officer Shamsul Haque, CAB district President Alam Sarowar Tito, DPEO Subrata Bonik, DEO Maksudha Rahman, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Hindu Kallan Trusti Advocate Dholon Bhowmick, Headmaster Md. Abdullah, Headmaster Shahnewaz Kabir and Executive Magistrate Obaidur Rahman Sohan.
Additional District Magistrate Abdullah al Masud and District level Government officials, Senior Journalists and Education Institute Chief were also present.
DC Mohammad Shamim Alam said that the government has taken various steps to render primary education to all children but due to poverty a significant number of children dropped out.
