Injured JCD ‘bomb maker’ dies at DMCH

Mahbubur Rahman Bappy, 28, a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader who received burn injuries while allegedly making bombs on Wednesday, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) early Thursday.
 The deceased was the General Secretary of the New Market JCD unit in the Dhaka Metropolitan, police said.
Bappy succumbed to his injuries around 5:00am, said Mozammel Haque, In-Charge of the DMCH Police Outpost.
His right wrist was blown off in the blast. Police said the explosion took place while Bappy was making a bomb he was planning to use for subversive activities in Dhaka.
The explosion also riddled two minors – Happy Akhter, 13, a student of Azimpur Girls School, and six-year-old Ripon – with splinters. They were inside the room during the blast, the police official said.
The body had been handed over to the family members of the deceased, said Md Nuruzzaman, Lalbagh Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC).
