Members of law enforcers arrested mother-in-law and husband for killing a housewife through torture at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on early Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Panna Khatun, 22, resident of Sultanganj Jahanabad village under the Godagari municipality area.
Local and police sources said, Mahbul and his mother tortured Panna time and again in different ways. On Monday afternoon, they beat up her severely during a family feud. At one stage, she became unconscious.
Later, she was taken to Godagari 31-bed hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Mohammad Lutfar Rahman, assistant police super of Godagari upazila circle, said different injury marks were found on victim’s body. However, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) morgue for autopsy.
A murder case was filed in this connection accusing six people including victim’s husband and mother-in-aw with Godaragi model police station. Police has been interrogating the detainees and trying to nab the other accused continuously. After investigating the incident, a proper action would be taken immediately against all of accused, also said Lutfar Rahman.
