Railway Minister Adv. Nurul Islam Sujan has said that a direct train will be launched from Ishwardi to Cox’s Bazar as soon as the work on Bangabandhu Second Railway Bridge is completed and the double rail line from Ishwardi to Joydevpur is made. He said while addressing a press conference at Ishwardi junction on the way to Khulna by the Sundarban Express train yesterday afternoon to inspect the ongoing development work of the railways. Meanwhile, Chief Engineer of Western Region Al Fattah Md. Masudur Rahman, Divisional Commercial Officer of Paksey Division Fuad Hasan Anand, President of Ishwardi Upazila Press Club and President of Ishwardi TV Journalists Association TA Panna, General Secretary of Ishradi Upazila Press Club Alam and other senior officials were present.
The Minister said that there is a manpower crisis in the railways. These will be met in phases and all the problems will be solved keeping pace with the times. All trains to the north and west go to Dhaka via Ishradi Bypass Station.
A good number of trains pass through Bangabandhu Bridge every day. As there is a single line and there is no second Bangabandhu bridge, the load on the bridge is increasing and the train time is getting disrupted. If the bridge is built, the demand will be met.
He assured that he would try to implement the demands of Ishradi Upazila Press Club, train running between Sirajganj-Dhaka, direct train between Ishradi-Dhaka and return to Dhaka to solve all the problems of the security forces.
