Doctors of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital on Tuesday said that the health conditions of jailed BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia improved after her admission there on Monday.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was admitted to the hospital on Monday.
This is the second time that she was admitted to the BSMMU hospital since she was jailed on February 8, 2018, in a graft case.
BNP labelled the cases filed against her as ‘politically motivated’.
Hospital Director Brigadier General KM Mahbubul Hoque said, “She is better today from the time she was admitted here. The former Prime Minister is happy with the treatment we are providing.”
“When Professor Dr. Zilan Miah Sarker, the head of the Medical Board formed for her treatment, visited BNP Chief in her cabin, she was smilingly and looked happy,” Mahbubul Haque said at a press conference in the hospital.
The hospital director said, Khaleda Zia can wave her hands while talking.
He said, the health condition of any person is solely personal adding that her condition would not be disclosed further more.
On Monday, Mahbubul Haque said that Khaleda Zia could not walk without any support. She complained of pain in the joints of the limbs. She was also suffering from anorexia, could not sleep well and her blood glucose level was high.
Earlier, Khaleda was admitted to the hospital on October 6, 2018 upon a court order for her treatment.
Doctors at that time said that Khaleda suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.
Deformity developed in her left hand and her shoulder became frozen due to the rheumatoid arthritis.
