Five robbers held in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday arrested five alleged criminals, including three muggers from Ittefaq crossing of Matijheel.
The elite force also recovered seven snatched passports, several bank cheque worth around Tk 5.13 lakh and eight mobile phones from their possessions.
The arrestees are-Salauddin, 39, Shamsul
Alam, 38, Farid Ahmed, 35, Jamal Hossain, 55, and Nur Islam, 46.
Sources at the RAB-10 battalion headquarters said their Commanding Officer received a complain that a gang of muggers, numbering four, intercepted one Shah Ali and his brother Shah Jalal while they were going to Hazrat ShahJalal International Airport from Narayangonj.
The robbers took away one passport bearing Malaysian visa, cash Tk 35,000 and one mobile phone at gunpoint in front of Rajdhani Super Market at around 7:15 am.
A case was filed with Wari Police Station in the same day. The RAB also started investigation into the case alongside local police station.
Being tip-of, the elite force raided the Ittefaq crossing at around 9:00 pm on Saturday and arrested the three muggers-Salauddin, 39, Shamsul Alam, 38, and Farid Ahmed, who were directly involved in the snatching.
