A total of 21,302 flood affected families of four upazilas in the district would get high energetic fortified biscuits from Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) to mitigate their sufferings.
Biscuits distribution activity had already started to the flood victims of Sundarganj, Sadar, Fulchhari and Shaghata upazilas of the district and it was going on in full swing.
In cooperation with WFP (UN’s World Food Programme), the biscuits are being distributed by the GUK going its officials and employees to the doors of the
flood victims of the upazilas under Emergency Food Distribution to Flood Affected People in Gaibandha district.
On Tuesday afternoon, deputy speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker dvocate Fazle Rabbi Miah formally inaugurated the biscuits distribution activity to the flood victims of Shaghata upazila of the district as the chief guest.
On the same day, deputy commissioner Abdul Matin also inaugurated the biscuits distribution activity to the flood affected families of Sadar upazila in a function held at Badher Matha near to New Bridge of the district town as the chief guest.
Each of the flood affected families got 3.75-kg of high energetic and nutritious biscuits from the organization to pass their days without food crisis in critical time.
Chief executive of GUK Abdus Salam said of the total, some 3,598 flood affected families would get biscuits in Sundarganj upazila, 4,922 in Sadar upazila, 4,038 in Fulchhari upazila and 7,733 in Shaghata upazila in the district.
