The 56th birthday of Sheikh Russel was celebrated at Islamic University (IU), Kushtia in a befitting manner on Saturday. Marking the day, IU Sheikh Russel Hall arranged cake cutting ceremony, Milad and dua Mahfil at the hall.
A special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the Sheikh Russel as well as Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the august 15 carnage.
IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the programme as the chief guest while pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman and its treasure Prof Dr M Selim Toha were present here as specials guests.
Among others, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, syndicate member Prof Dr Mahbubar Rahman, transport administrative Prof Dr M Rezuanul Islam, Prodip Kumar Adhikari, M Anisur Rahman, M AbdullahAl-Mashud and Litod Baron Sikdar, house tutor of the hall took part at the event.
Earlier, IU authorities placed floral wreaths on the portrait of the Sheikh Russel near the Sheikh Russel hall.
