Hearing on cricketer Shahadat’s case deferred

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 of Dhaka on Sunday shifted the hearing in the case filed against cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan Nitto for torturing their domestic help to April 24.
Judge Tanjila Ismail fixed the new date for hearing as the complainant of the case was not present in the court. Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor of the court Ali Asgar Swapan sought time.
On September 6, last year, journalist Khandaker Mozammel Haque sued the couple for alleged torturing of their domestic help Mahfuza Akter Happy. She was found injured on a road in Sangbadik Colony area of Pallabi in the city. Immediately after the incident, the couple went into hiding.
Later, they surrendered to the court and secured bail.
