A man killed his son over marriage issue at Bagichartek in the city’s Rampura area early on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Alam (20), son of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Dulal Mia.
Officer-in-Charge of Rampura Police Station Alamgir Hossain said that Alam and his father had been in a conflict over his (Alam’s) marriage for the last several months.
Alam locked in an altercation with his father over the issue on Tuesday night.
The father suddenly attacked Alam at around 4:30am and beat him with iron rods severely. The father fled the scene leaving him injured seriously.
Later, Alam was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead. Alam was a rickshaw-puller.
The body has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy. A case was filed with the Rampura Police Station in this connection.
