Kibria murder case: Charge framing deferred again

The Speedy Trial Tribunal here on Tuesday again deferred the charge framing in the ex-Finance Minister SAMS Kibria murder case.
Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal judge Makbul Ahsan passed the order as
all the accused were not present at the court, and said a new date for the charge framing will be fixed later. With this, the charge framing in the sensational case has been deferred for the eighth time.
Court sources said suspended Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor Ariful Haque, former state minster for home Lutfozzaman Babar, top leader of militant group ‘Huji’ Mufti Hannan and nine others, now behind the bars, were not produced before the court yesterday.
The Kibria murder case was transferred to the Speedy Trial Tribunal from Habiganj Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on June 11 for its quick disposal. Five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally of local Awami League at Baidder Bazar in Sadar upazila on January 27, 2005.
