DRU worried over imprisonment of Tofazzal’s son Nahid

Staff Reporter: Dhaka Reporters Unity on Saturday expressed its anxiety over imprisonment of former DRU Joint-General Secretary Tofazzal Hossain’s son Ahsan Habib Nahid.
DRU President Nazrul Islam Mithu and General Secretary Nurul Islam Hasib said in a joint statement that Tofazzal Hossain’s son Nahid went missing on November 29.
Tofazzal Hossain, the Special Correspondent of Bangla daily Khola Kagoj, filed a General Diary with Mohammadpur Police Station in the capital on the day.
His family stated on the GD that Nahid did not return home that night after going out in the morning at 7:45am on the day. His cell phone also was switched off.
Tofazzal said, day after filing the GD, one person made a phone call to his family introducing himself as a RAB member.
The caller said that Nahid was in Madaripur jail.
Later the family found that Nahid had been shown arrested in a case filed by Rajoir police station of Madaripur on June15, on 2020. But his name was not existed in the case.
The DRU leaders expressed frustration that Nahid has not been freed yet.
They urged the law enforcers’ agencies and authorities concern to take necessary steps to free Nahid soon.
