Delegation of Indian Armed Forces war veterans calls on Army chief

A 30-member delegation of Indian Armed Forces war veterans, who joined the Bangladesh’s War of Liberation in 1971, on Sunday paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed at his office at the army headquarters in the city.
During the meeting, the army chief remembered the contributions of those war veterans with due respect and expressed gratitude to them, said an ISPR press release here.
Major General (Retd) Narayan Sankaran Nair led the delegation including six serving members of the Indian Armed Forces.
General Aziz Ahmed also presented gift to the members of the delegation.
The delegation is in a visit here on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh independence.
In the meeting, the delegation lauded the overall progress and development of Bangladesh and wished further development of the country.
Earlier, the delegation paid tributes to the martyred members of Armed Forces in the Liberation War in 1971 by placing a wreath at Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment in the morning.
They also paid tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War in 1971 by placing a wreath at the National Memorial at Savar on March 26 on the occasion of the Independence and National Day-2021.
The delegation will leave here for India on Monday.
