BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said puja mandaps have been increased due to prevailing religious harmony across the country.
Terming Bangladesh an excellent example of religious harmony, Hanif said the people of all faiths here can perform their religious rituals freely and independently under the charismatic leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “As a result, the number of puja mandaps has been increased in the country to celebrate the puja in festivity,” he was speaking as the chief guest at a clothes distribution programme at Dhakeshwari Temple in city’s old part.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP) and Mohanagar Sharbojanin Puja Committee (MSPC) jointly arranged it. According to BPUP, this year Durga Puja will be celebrated at 29,395 Puja Mandaps across the country, where the last year, there were 29,071 Puja Mandaps.
Referring to BNP-Jamaat Hanif said, “A vested quarter is out to destroy our social peace, communal harmony and mutual religious tolerance and respect in the name of politics. But our prime minister strictly handled it and maintained the harmony.”
MSPC Chairman DN Chaterjee, AL Organising Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Deputy Office Secretary Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das, Al Central Committee member Sujit Rai Nandi and BPUP General Secretary Advocate Taposh Kumar Pal were present.
