Workers of 11 private jetties in Sadarghat area of Chittagong city yesterday observed work abstention for a day protesting an attack on one of their leaders on Friday.
Vessels with fertilisers, wheat and coal were left waiting in the jetties due to the strike. Masked men hacked Idris Ali, convener of Ghat Gudam Sramik Sangram Union, near Majhirghat on Friday night, allegedly over rivalry, said police.
