Chittagong City Corporation ( CCC) so far realised revenue of Tk.78.24 crores out of target of current fiscal for Tk.337 crores during nine months of the fiscal. Only 23% revenue realized out of the total target for current fiscal.
To realize the balance target amount of Tk.260 cr , CCC launched new techniques to realize revenue with full swing, a CCC sources said. In the meantime, CCC decided to publish the names of tax defaulters and and notices of attachment to tax holders.
Besides, CCC taken initiatives to revalue the holding tax in ward Nos. 1,8,21,31,323,34,35,36,38 & 41 after two years of assuming power of new city mayor. CCC sources said the target of revenue for current fiscal was Tk.337.19 cr but upto March 21, only realized Tk.78.25 cr in 9 months of the year.
CCC sources said the total tax holders in city was 1,50,792 which increased to 1,55,063 and the city mayor recently announced Zero tolerance in realslising the holding tax.
To increase the consciousness among the tax payees, CCC recently launched vigorous publicity campaign like distribution of leaflets , publications of public notices in newspapers, views exchanging in ward levels etc.
Mentionable that the Revenue department of the corporation reshuffled a new led by personal secretary of Mayor Md. Manzoorul Islam as Acting Chief Revenue Officer aimed at fulfilling the desired goal.
