A mob beat up two policemen at Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong on Tuesday after a teenage boy was killed in a road accident while bringing tea for the cops as per their order.
Cops were identified as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Md Monir and constable Md Kashem. The teenage boy named Md Tarek, 16, was injured critically under a speedy pick-up van on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Fouzdarhat area in the morning.
He succumbed to his injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.Tarek faced the accident when he used the road to take tea for the cops, as they ordered him to do it.
The agitated people alleged that the cops collect extortion from Fouzdarhat Crossing daily. The drivers of vehicles increase speed at the crossing to avoid police extortion.
