A three-member probe body led by ASM Shamsur Rahman, Additional Superintendent (administration) of Habiganj Police has been formed to investigate the sensational ‘Beauty’ murder after abduction following the filing of a rape case with the Habiganj Sadar Police Station. The other committee members are Additional SP (Baniachang Circle) Shailen Chakma and ASP of Police Headquarters Md Nazimuddin.
Bidhan Tripura, Superintendent of Police of Habiganj, formed the probe body on Wednesday following the widespread outcry for investigation. The body was asked to submit its report within three days.
According to the case statement, stalker Babul and his accomplices used to harass Beauty on her way to work. He allegedly raped the girl on January 21.
As Beauty’s father Sayed Ali went to Shayestaganj Police Station to file a case, police asked him to go to court.
Later on March 4, he filed the case with Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
The tribunal then asked the OC of Shayestaganj Police Station to take legal action considering it as the FIR.
Filing of the case has made Babul angry and he started threatening Beauty.
Facing the threat, Sayed Ali sent his daughter to her grandfather’s house at Gunipur in Lakhai upazila.
From there, Beauty went missing on March 16. Her body was found in a haor the next day.
On March 18, a murder case was filed with Shayestaganj Police Station.
Meanwhile, police detained Abdul Kadir, father-in-law of accused Babul Mia, from Brahmandura village at 3.30pm on Thursday, said Shayestaganj Police Station OC Anisur Rahman.
