The BNP on Thursday said that it had not seen any sign of sending the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to Hospital for better medical treatment.
“The Home Minister on Tuesday said that Khaleda Zia would be admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital for her better treatment. But no visible step has been taken yet even after passing of three days to admit her in the hospital,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.
Rizvi said, “A lower court has asked the
authorities concerned to ensure proper treatment of Khaleda Zia as per the High Court’s directives. Neither the minister’s assurance nor the court’s order has been executed.”
The BNP leader said that they were passing every moment with deep anxiety over their party chief’s health condition.
Rizvi also called upon the Prime Minister to allow Khaleda Zia taking treatment at any specialised hospital.
A six-member BNP delegation led by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at his secretariat office on Tuesday for Khaleda Zia’s better treatment. The home minister told journalists that the BNP chairperson would soon be taken to BSMMU for medical treatment.
Rizvi said that the government has not allowed Khaleda’s family members to meet her for nearly a month. The BNP senior leaders also could not meet their chairperson for over the last two months.
