A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) reportedly stabbed an Awami League leader in broad daylight for protesting stalking of his eleventh-grader daughter in Gabtali upazila of Bogura on Saturday.
Tariqul Islam Tari, 25, acting president of Sonaray union unit BCL, along with some of his associates stabbed Md Ful Mia, 52, joint secretary of the union unit AL, with sharp weapons in Jamirbari Bazar area on Saturday afternoon, police and the victim’s family members said.

Seriously injured Ful Mia of Khupi village was admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
“Tariqul has been continuously stalking my sister on the way of her college for the last two months. Therefore, my father informed this matter to the college principal, and Tariqul’s family. He also warned Tariqul,” Amir Hossain, son of Ful Mia.
“Then, Tariqul became angry and he along with his brother Tarajul, cousin Gafur and other associates attacked my father with sharp weapons at Jamirbari Bazar,” he said.
“My father sustained a deep injury in his head and other body parts. Therefore, we are thinking of shifting him to the Dhaka Medical College hospital,” he added.
Quoting witnesses, Selim Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Gabtali Police Station, said that Tariqul, also a resident of the same village, and his other two to three associates attacked Ful Mia. They hit him in his head, left arm, and lower abdomen with sharp weapons, he added.
