Economic Reporter :
Mobile-phone operator Banglalink has posted 5 percent year-on-year revenue growth of Tk 12.3 billion in the second quarter on 2016.
It published the Q2 results recently in the city.
The increase in revenue was mainly driven by continued increases in voice revenue, primarily as a result of traffic growth, coupled with a 60 percent increase in data revenue, the operator said in a media release.
The number of Banglalink data users grew by 6 percent in this period. Data usage increased 178 percent, supported by 3G coverage and smartphone penetration.
“The main operational focus during the quarter was the ongoing SIM verification program,” the release said.
