Bangladesh’s campaign in ICC Champions Trophy

Bangladesh showed a respectable performance in the ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales. Bangladesh reached the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy, one of the most prestigious cricket meet of the whole world.
Bangladesh became runners-up in Group-A securing three points from three matches. Bangladesh lost to England by eight wickets in the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy on June 1.
The match between Bangladesh and Australia was washed out by rain on June 5.
Later, The Tigers registered a historic five-wicket victory over New Zealand in their last Group-A match on June 9.
But Bangladesh’s dream to reach the final want in vain as they lost to defending champions India by nine wickets in the semi-final on June 15.
Though Bangladesh failed to get ticket of the final but the Tigers showed a gimmick performance. They for the first time confirmed their semi-final berth in the ICC Champions Trophy.
If we analysis the performance of the players of Bangladesh team, we find that some Bangladesh batsmen showed consistent performance but the bowlers failed to shine with the cherry.
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal notched up 128 against England, hit 95 against Australia, was dismissed for naught by New Zealand and made 70 against India. Tamim scored altogether 293 runs in four matches. His highest score was 128 against England. His average was 73.25.
Mahmudullah Riyad remained unbeaten with six runs against England, scored eight runs against Australia, remained unbeaten with 102 against New Zealand, was dismissed for 21 by India. He scored altogether 137 runs in four matches. His highest score was 102 (not out). His average was 68.50.
Shakib Al Hasan scored 10 runs against England, made 29 against Australia, notched up 114 against New Zealand and was dismissed for 15 by India. He scored altogether 168 runs. His highest score was 114. His average was 42.
Mushfiqur Rahim notched up 79 runs against England, was dismissed for nine by Australia, scored 14 against New Zealand and made 61 against India. He scored altogether 163 runs. His highest score was 79. His average was 40.75.
Mosaddek Hossain grabbed three wickets at the cost of 13 runs against New Zealand.
Taskin Ahmed bagged two wickets instead of 43 runs against New Zealand. Rubel Hossain took one wicket for 21 runs against Australia and got one wicket for 60 runs against New Zealand.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took one wicket for 56 runs against England, got one wicket for 29 runs against India.
