The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Monday issued warrant of arrests against nine BNP leaders including the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a case filed with Pallabi Police Station of the city under the Explosive Substances Act.
Judge-in-Charge of the court Ruhul Amin took cognizance of the charge sheet and passed order to issue the warrant. The judge fixed August 23 for submission of a report on the execution of the warrant.
Other accused persons include BNP Chief’s Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel and former BNP lawmaker Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia.
The case was filed in connection with alleged sabotage during the blockade and shutdown programme sponsored by Bangladesh Nationalist Party in January, 2015.
