Alleged terrorist killed in ‘gunfight’ with RAB in Patuakhali

An alleged terrorist cum drug peddler killed in ‘gunfight’ with unit -8 of Rapid Action Battalion on a field at BSCIC Estate area near Laukathi Riverbank of Patuakhali district town on Monday morning.
Major Adnan Kabir, deputy director of RAB-8 headquarters in Barisal, confirmed the report.
The victim was identified as Torikul Islam Taru alias Kala Vai, 31, son of Mannan Baburchi, from Charpara under Sadar upazila of Patuakhali district.
RAB sources claimed two pistols, two light guns, 2 magazines, 13 rounds fresh cartridges, 10 rounds used cartridges, 644 bottles phensidyl, 2 mobile phone sets and 3 SIM cards and cash Tk.302 were recovered as scattered in the spot.
Major Adnan Kabir said on basis of tip-off they learnt that some armed terrorists and drug peddlers assembled at aforesaid spot.
Then the patrol team of RAB-8 rushed there at 4:00 AM Monday and noticed a suspicious gathering of 6/7 persons.
RAB giving identification when asked the suspects about their identification and tried to go closer for searching body of the suspected miscreants, then the miscreants tried to run away from the scene.
RAB team then chased them to nab and the fleeing miscreant opening fire on RAB attempted to flee from the area.
RAB for self defense also opened fire at 4:10 AM and both sides engaged in ‘gunfight’ continued till 4:25 AM and the miscreants forced to retreat.
