Submission of probe report against DIG Partha deferred

The Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday set January 28 of next for submission of the probe report in the graft case against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Partha Gopal Bonik.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) could not submit the report on Thursday.
Partha, who was working at Sylhet Central Jail, was shown arrested by the ACC on July 28 after they recovered Taka 80 lakh from his Green Road flat in Dhaka city. He was being quizzed from July 28. The following day, he was sent to the jail and since the he is behind the bar.
“He did not, declare the money in his income tax return, making us believe that it was amassed illegally,” ACC Director Mohammad Yousuf said on that day. Partha, after his arrest allegedly said the car he was using is kept at the parking space owned by him, actually belongs to his friend.
About the money, Partha said, Tk 30 lakh was given to him by his mother-in-law and Tk 50 lakh was earned by him during the years of his service.
