Editorial Desk : The assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Mr Andrei Karlov in Turkish capital Ankara on Monday by an off-duty police officer shouting ‘Allahu Akbar and don’t forget Aleppo’ showed it as the accumulated anger among the Muslims all over the world for the massacre Russia is doing together with Assad in Syria. The war in Syria is a big power competition over international influence but it is only the Syrian people and Syria paying the deadly price.
It is sad that Russian ambassador was shot at point blank and killed but what is to be understood is the fury among Muslims for the reason of Russia’s involvement in the act of butchering the Muslims in Syria only for retaining a political foothold in the Middle East side by side with the USA and other Western powers.
No mercy is being shown in killing men, women and children trapped in the war. Russia must win to save Assad from fleeing the country because Russia has to gain influence by way of asserting it’s big power ego.
The fight in Syria is not between the rebels and Assad but between the people and the modern day Hitler President Assad.
The devastation of Aleppo has been
continuing over months with the help of Russian forces on the ground and bombers on the sky.
Russia is fighting Assad’s war. The show of Russia’s might is so blatantly cruel that evacuating of Syrian people from Aleppo is bragged as victory for Russia.
All over the world lives of Muslim are considered of no value because the government of most Muslim countries are anti-people and back-boneless entities. They have no sense of honour or dignity. To be a puddle of another country will erase the shame even if President Assad can cling to power. But he will not survive to cling to power.
As Muslims, we feel most ashamed that Iran, which poses as an exemplary Islamic country, has no hesitation along with Russia in supporting with both money and men to create massacre in Syria. The country is being reduced to rubbles and the people are killed or forced to leave their own country to live a life pathetically on mercy of others.
The question is how Turkey, being a secular but a strong Muslim country, could be so inhuman to join Russia gleefully in bringing deaths and miseries to another Muslim country.
Friendship with Russia or any other country inimical to the Muslims will not help Turkey in the long term.
The game of power is self-defeating if life of the people is considered of no value. If other people’s lives are not important why the others will consider anybody’s life as important.
Why the killer of a single individual should be condemned when millions of innocent people are being jointly and merrily butchered by others? This hard question should be asked and answered soberly. Otherwise there will be many killers in many places.
Terrorism has grown and will be growing if the governments do not understand that killing is easy for ordinary people if they are made angry by causing them to suffer grave injustices. Terrorism can be met only chaining the power hungry and helping the oppressed ones. The days of gun power are no longer one sided. Victory of weapons over human lives should be considered not attainable in the days of globalisation and easy access to weapons. Causing human miseries to innocent people can be insanity and not victory.
Muslims have to prove that they are not servile cowards to accept all kinds of humiliation and mass killing lying down. The time has come for the Muslims to rise against injustices and butchering of their men, women and children as if they do not have anybody to save them other than themselves.
The killer governments cannot be saved by any outside big power. They are being treated as helpless puddles of foreign powers knowing that such governments are hated by their own people.
We hope that Russia and other out side powers helping to save Assad, a devil incarnate, as their puppet must learn the right lesson and make Syria safe for the Syrian people. The war in Syria is not winnable by outside powers.
We know terrorism is madness but the war that kills thousands of innocent Syrians in their own country is the worst kind of terrorism. State terrorism, just because the state has superior weapons, is not the full reality.
Nobody should underestimate power of the desperate people. Do not force the people to take up arms.
The presidents of Russia and Turkey have denounced the assassination as an ‘act of terror’ while the Russian president has vowed to retaliate on the Islamist terrorists in Syria. Both of them have expressed strong determination to fight terrorism. This is the wrong approach. There can be terrorism against state terrorism.
We can see an armed uprising of the Muslims being provoked by brutal state powers. This is to be inevitable if repression against the Muslims does not end. The man who killed the Russian ambassador in Turkey must not be dismissed as a terrorist. Try to understand the justness of his anger and frustration for the miseries caused to Muslim men, women and children in Syria and other Muslim countries taking advantage of the weakness of their governments.
Only someone completely devoid of human consideration can see the crisis of humanity in Aleppo is victory to be relished. President Putin can be happy over his role in Syria because the Russian people are not the victims.
Turkey and Russia jointly with Assad are killing the Syrian Muslims and those are not killed are forced to suffer humiliation in other countries as unwanted refugees.
Every life is important if peace is to be desired. But Turkey and Iran as collaborators of Russia cannot feel that way.
Most Turkish people are naturally angry to see their government collaborating with Russia in annihilation of the Syrian Muslim brothers and sisters. President of Turkey Erdogan must try to understand the concerns of his country men and change the policy towards Assad and Russia for saving Syria and the Syrian people. Assad should be asked to leave Syria and that would be the most effective against terrorism.
