Accommodation for 3,423 Payra Port victims on process: Khalid

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Sunday said 3,423 houses will be built to accommodate families those become victims of Payra Port land acquisition process.
“Construction of 3,423 houses is underway in total seven centres under 14 packages on 484 acres of land’ the state minister said adding that as part of the accommodation, 1,165 A-type houses and 2,258 B-type houses will be built under these 14 packages at a cost of TK 1,042.54 crore,”
Mahmud Chowdhury said this while inspecting the under construction houses for the victims of land acquisition victims in Patuakhali on Sunday, an official release said.
Payra Port Authority Chairman Commodore Humayun Kallol, member (Admin and Finance) Commander M Rafiul Hasan, member (Harbour and Marine) Commodore M Mamunur Rashid, member (Engineering and Development) Commodore Rajib Tripura and Project Director Captain Munir Hossain were present on the occasion,.
The state minister said none will be left out without homes under the present government of Sheikh Hasina.
“Under the rehabilitation packages, work of package-1 has been completed. Under package-1, a total of 114 houses have been built, of which A-type houses are 36 and B-type houses are 78.
Each house has three bedrooms with two bathrooms, one kitchen and one veranda. One master bedroom has an attached bathroom in these houses. One septic tank has been built for every four houses,” Chowdhury added.
Officials said work is going on to acquire a total of 6,562.27 acres of land to build Payra Port and around 3,423 families have become victims under this process.
“At present, 2,350 houses are being built and roof casting work of 2,025 houses have already been completed so far,” they said.
