BASIC Bank loan scam: ACC notices to DMD, GM, 3 others

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday sent notices to five persons, including two officials of BASIC Bank Limited asking their wealth statements.
The notices signed by ACC Deputy Director Syed Iqbal have been sent to their addresses.
 The anti-graft body has found huge wealth in the name of the persons, which ACC Public Relation Officer described, is beyond their known sources of income.
They are BASIC Bank’s Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Munaem Khan and his wife Shahana Parveen, its General Manager (GM) Mohammad Ali, his wife Esmat Ara and their son Abdul Munem Chowdhury.
Earlier, five other officials of the bank’s Gulshan and Shantinagar branches were suspended on charge of their involvement with loan scam.
Joynal Abedin, Khondoker Shamim Hasan, Mohammad Ali, Shepar Ahmed and Zahid Hasan are the officers.
