15 held on several charges

At least 15 persons were held in Chuittgaong on various charges including convicted fugitive, possessing fire arms and fake gold bars.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested eight people, who allegedly cheated people by selling fake gold, at Baluchhara in Chittagong city on Saturday.
The team arrested Asma Begum, 30, Rokeya Begum, 28, Md Badsha, 20, Md Solaiman, 32, Nur Uddin, 24, Md Idris, 51, Shahidul Islam, 28, and Md Hasan, 28, and seized five fake gold bars and two CNG-run-auto-rickshaws, said a press release.
During primary interrogation, they admitted to the crime, it added.
Another reports says: Chittagong district police in a drive arrested a man again who was awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment earlier in an arms case with foreign made pistol and ammunitions from a residence of Chandropur area under Hathazari upazila of the district on Friday night.
The arrested was identified as Abu Taher,38, son of Tobarak Ali, hailed from Chandropur area under Hathazari upazila of the district.
Based on secret information, a team of Hathazari thana police conducted a raid at a residence of Chandropur village under Hathazari upazila of the district and arrested him with a foreign made pistol and seven round bullets, said Nasir Uddin, Sub-Inspector of Hathazarui thana.
He said Taher has been fugitive for last seven years as a court of Chittagong awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to him. Another arms case filed with Hathazari thana in this connection, he added
UNB from Chittagong reports: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate drives arrested four alleged arms traders along with a firearms from separate areas of the city on Saturday evening.
Shaheda Akhter, assistant director (Media Wing) of RAB-7, said a they conducted a drive in Chowdhury Hat area of Hathazari upazila in the evening and arrested Safiul Bashar Rony and Sohel Rana with a rifle and 56 roundsof bullet.
 Meanwhile another team of the elite force conducted a drive in Akbar Shah Thana area of the city in the evening and arrested Manjur Alam and a person yet to be identified along with a foreign pistol and two rounds of bullets.
 RAB sources said that the arrestees had long been involved in arms trading.
BSS from Chittgaoing adds: Rapid Action Battalion-7 on Saturday detained two persons at Hathazari upazila of Chittagong with a foreign rifle, 56 bullets and a magazine “which belong to a CCC councillor”.  
According to Councillor of No-1 Dakkhin Pahartoli Ward of Chittagong City Corporation Toufique Ahmed Chowdhury, one of the arrestees, Sohel Rana, 32, is his nephew while other Shafiul Bashar Roni, 27, is his chauffeur.
He said he left the arm and ammunition with Sohel in my car due to a hurry while Roni was driving it when RAB made the arrest. It is illegal to carry someone else’s arms, said RAB.
